My husband and I were stranded in Wyoming when our car broke down on our way from Utah to Minnesota. We unfortunately had to cancel our B&B reservation we had for that night and make a new one for the next night after we got our car fixed and could be on our way. A quick search brought me to Debie's place. She very graciously agreed to let us stay on short notice. The next day we met up at Mount Rushmore with my sister and her three kids, who were driving from Seattle and hoping to make it to Minnesota that night. Since that was very unlikely given the time and the fact that they'd been traveling so long with very little rest already, we convinced them to join us at the B&B. I called Debie and asked if she could accommodate my sister and her three kids that night as well. No problem, she said. She had a room with two queens for them. Perfect. We caravaned the rest of the day but traveling with three kids is not the same as traveling without kids, so our schedule became seriously impaired. I called Debie around 10:30 her time to apologize for our lateness, and she again said no problem. We ended up pulling into her driveway at 1:30 a.m., and she came out to greet us. She gave us the use of her laundry room so my sister could wash her kids' diapers and clothes. She has a beautiful home, and is very gracious and hospitable. It was an amazing treat and a much-needed rest on our long journey. We wanted to get on our way early the next morning, and slept well but not for long enough. She had a delicious full breakfast ready for all of us promptly at 7:30, and chatted with us while we ate. My nephew and niece enjoyed her toy room immensely, and I played a little on her family heirloom organ. Our only regret is that we had so little time to spend there. The mist rising off the fields beyond the back patio in the morning was so beautiful. I hope we can return and enjoy her space!
My Friends and I found Dakota B&B online when looking for a place to stay in SD for a duck hunting trip. Although they specialize in pheasant hunting parties we chose them because of the services and accommodations. We could not have been happier anywhere else. Debie and Dale are two of the greatest people I have ever met. We had everything we needed and more. If you stay there it is more than worth the 10$ a night to have Debie cook dinner for you. Overall an amazing place in beautiful country close to Watertown and anything else you could need. Oh, and the brownies are terrible! ;)
